What is Viridian?
Viridian Energy provides greener electricity at an affordable price, allowing customers and independent Associates to make a difference in the environment and their personal lives simply by switching energy providers.
What does the deregulation of energy mean?
Prior to the 1990’s every state in the U.S. regulated its electric industry. There was only one company (the local utility) that was responsible for all components of your energy service. Today, your energy service is divided into three components including generation, transmission and distribution. Under deregulation, your local utility still exclusively manages the transmission and distribution parts of this process, but generation has been opened to competition for suppliers, like Viridian Energy, to buy energy in the wholesale markets and then sell it to customers like you.
What separates Viridian from the competition?
Viridian is a socially responsible energy company that provides greener electricity at affordable prices. Unlike our competitors who charge a premium for green, Viridian accepts a lower profit in order to make our product affordable to customers. Viridian has no credit checks, no contract, no switch fees and no cancellation fees.
What if a customer is on budget billing with the utility?
The customer will remain on budget billing for the distribution portion of the bill, however they will not for the supply portion of the bill, this charge will be based on Viridian’s low variable rate. Call the utility with the customer if they are currently on budget billing and ask how it will effect them moving forward.
What is a monthly variable rate and what is the advantage of a variable rate over a fixed rate?
A monthly variable rate means that our rate changes according to the price of electricity. A fixed rate means that you will pay the same rate for a fixed period of time, usually for one year or 6 months, no matter what the price of electricity is. Our variable rate is genrerally lower than the utility because the price of energy has gone down and we are able to pass along the savings to you.
What is POR?
POR is an acronym for Purchase of Receivables. Utilities that participate in POR programs under deregulation are required by law to pay alternative providers like Viridian even if the customer doesn’t pay the utility, this limits risk to alternative providers like Viridian.
Which states are Viridian currently doing business in and what markets are they planning on going to next?
Viridian currently does business in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland, the future plans are to go to New York, Illinois and Massachusetts.
Who is Michael Fallquist?
Michael Fallquist is the CEO of Viridian Energy. He has a MBA from Cornell University and was a highly successful consultant for Commerce Energy in Texas. He is an actuary and has the vision of helping the environment while providing affordable energy to the consumer and business owner.

Is this a pyramid scheme?
No, an actual pyramid scheme is when money changes hands without a product or service. Viridian does not pay to recruit. It pays only for customers choosing to select Viridian’s alternative energy supply.
Viridian was elected as a member of the Direct Selling Association in 2010. This is a significant honor and highly audited for best business practices.
Why do I have to pay to do this business?
As in a majority of businesses there are costs associated to running a business and Viridian is no exception. To own your own business with Viridian you are provided many tools including marketing templates, commission and customer tracking, webinars, videos and incentives for both associates and customers.
Why are competitors offering a lower rate with a contract?
Generally when a business has a contract it is to protect them and not the consumer. By locking into a contract the consumer will not be able to take advantage of the competitive prices created through deregulation.
